Joven Rita is an entrepreneur and founder of The Glow Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics, Celebrity Hair Restoration, McLean Rhinoplasty Center, The Cash Banks Experience and Pascual Surgery Center. She has offices across the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and Virginia Beach, and plans to open in National Harbor, Maryland in 2024.
She specializes in medical aesthetics and hair restoration, garnering a loyal following thanks to her meticulous attention to detail and understanding of patient care. The mompreneur has made it her goal to bring together the best surgeons and health care practitioners in the world together to empower their clients by providing natural, beautiful and long-lasting results that will make them look better and feel their best. Her VIP clientele includes a variety of celebrities, influencers, athletes, and popular reality stars.
Joven’s entrepreneurial journey started as a teenager growing up in Maryland. “I’ve always had a hustle. In high school I worked part-time, so I could learn first-hand the business of running a clinic. I always loved cosmetology and knew I would eventually get into aesthetics, whether it was makeup or hair, so I learned important lessons in leadership, structuring a business, and how to negotiate. I received my Bachelor’s and MBA, but the best way to be an entrepreneur is to be fearless and take chances.”
She spent several years working at various physician practices, learning the ropes on the clinical side of things, and networking with top doctors from all over the world. In 2006 she perfected her craft in hair restoration and hair transplant surgery, but she knew she was meant to do more and kept thinking of her father’s advice to always aim high. In 2019 she took the leap and ventured on her own in a small room focusing on her first venture, Celebrity Hair Restoration and growing that business from the ground up.
It was a meeting with world renowned surgeon, Dr. Santiago, and the advances in the field of facial aesthetics, lasers and injectables that inspired Rita to open The Glow. After just a few years later it became one of the premiere medical spa and plastic surgery clinics in the D.C. Metropolitan area. The Glow provides head-to-toe surgical and non-surgical treatments and services. A few popular aesthetics treatments include micro-needling with PRP, hair restoration and lasers for facial skin resurfacing, tightening, and blemish removal. Among the most popular surgical procedures are liposuction, tummy tucks, fat transfers, BBLs, arm lifts, and rhinoplasties.
Maintaining a work-life balance for the #momboss is a constant work in progress. Her son was born just when the business was expanding. Next came her beautiful daughter, born at the start of another busy season.
“I’ve been with my husband for thirteen years, and I couldn’t have done all this without his love and support- he’s been my rock and foundation. There were times when I began to feel burned out and needed to reassess what was and was not working. Over the past few years, I’ve found a few key lessons. Learn to be present. Prioritize my time wisely, and not everything is a yes! You really need to work on self-awareness and listen to your body. In my case it took two mini strokes to make the necessary changes. My business has been successful because of my team, my supportive and loving husband, my sister who is my right hand in the daily operations, my brother George, who is my CFO and most importantly, my phenomenal and talented plastic surgeons. Everyone at the Glow is very passionate in what they do and prioritizes patient care. The Glow Experience is what sets us apart and is why we are growing so rapidly.”
